All around the world, people and organizations are aware that how we deal with water will determine much of our future on this planet. The United Nations (UN) points out that water and sanitation are not just a precondition to life and a declared human right, but also vital to sustainable development – from health and nutrition, to gender equity and economics. In order to tackle today’s increasingly urgent water-related challenges, the UN declared 2018-2028 as the ‘Water Action Decade’. Ensuring water and sanitation for all
In pursuing Mission Water, we have aligned our efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN for 2030. Saur’s business policies and activities are focused primarily, of course, on the 6th SDG, to ‘Ensure access to water and sanitation for all’.
Social responsibility and local innovation
In the areas of social responsibility and local innovation challenges, we have prioritized our work around 11 other SDGs. These are related to climate action, sustainable consumption and production, (gender) equality, biodiversity, energy, and cities, among others.
Impacting 30% of the United Nations’ 17 SDGs
We directly impact 30% of the 169 targets associated with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. And across our entire organization, we eagerly join hands with every player working toward these same goals.
There are good reasons why the water theme permeates global agendas. According to UN data, 90% of all natural disasters are water-related. Water scarcity already affects four out of every 10 people. And 80% of wastewater flows back into the ecosystem without being treated or reused

The UN’s World Water Development Report (WWDR) 2021 highlighted that our collective inability to recognize the value of water is the main cause of its waste and misuse. At Saur, we hold the value of water at the center of our mission in order to make a real contribution to the environmental, social and economic transformation our world needs.
