What is the professional equality index?

Introduced by the 2018 law on freedom to choose one’s professional future, the “Gender Equality Index” measures the pay gap between women and men using five indicators:

  • The gender pay gap
  • The gap in the distribution of individual pay raises
  • The gap in the distribution of promotions (only in companies with more than 250 employees)
  • The number of female employees who received a pay raise upon returning from maternity leave
