A more integrated approach for better planning

Decisions regarding quantitative water management are now based on an ever-increasing volume of data: groundwater levels, river flows, meteorological data, hydraulic structures, and water withdrawals.

However, this information often remains siloed, even as managers must make trade-offs in increasingly complex contexts.

The partnership between ImaGeau and BRLIngénierie addresses this trend by combining two complementary areas of expertise:

  • ImaGeau, a Saur group entity, brings its expertise in groundwater monitoring. Its EMI (Environmental Monitoring Interface) platform centralizes, visualizes, and analyzes data from hydrometric stations, piezometers1, dams, and water intake points, providing a single, accessible interface where public data remains scattered.
  • BRLIngénierie, a BRL group entity, brings its recognized expertise in hydrological modeling and surface water monitoring. BRLIngénierie develops and operates advanced models for simulating and forecasting flow rates and inflows. The company also offers customized decision-support and early-warning platforms (for floods and droughts) under the WIMES brand (Water Information Management Ecosystem and Services).

A turnkey solution, unique in the French market, serving local governments and industrial clients

Today, the market remains highly fragmented, with players specializing in either groundwater or surface water, and solutions that are rarely integrated from start to finish.

By combining hydrological modeling and operational monitoring, ImaGeau and BRLIngénierie offer a turnkey solution that enables local governments, industrial companies, and water resource managers to:

  • Gain a comprehensive view (surface water and groundwater);
  • Access forecasting and decision-support capabilities powered by AI (floods, low water levels);
  • Simplify usage through a unified and interoperable SaaS solution2 backed by directly applicable domain expertise, without having to manage the complexity of integrating multiple service providers.

This partnership, which is unique in France, is still in its early stages. Currently focused on the quantitative aspects of the resource, it is intended to gradually expand to include qualitative considerations and to enhance the interoperability of the EMI and WIMES platforms. Ultimately, ImaGeau and BRLIngénierie aim to expand their services internationally, leveraging the respective locations of the two groups, to build a comprehensive water resource assessment offering designed to foster more resilient regions.

Choosing Nîmes as the venue for the signing ceremony holds symbolic significance. Located in the heart of a region regularly faced with droughts, as well as Mediterranean rains that can cause flash floods, the Gard department exemplifies the growing challenges associated with water resource management. Against the backdrop of climate change, where hydrological phenomena are becoming more variable and intense, local governments need tools that enable them to better understand, anticipate, and manage water resources. This is precisely the goal of the partnership between ImaGeau and BRLIngénierie.

"Regions can no longer manage water resources based on a partial understanding of the data. By integrating groundwater monitoring with surface water modeling, we aim to provide managers with a more comprehensive and actionable view of water resources. This partnership with BRLIngénierie marks an important milestone for ImaGeau: it strengthens our ability to support local governments, industry, and public authorities in their decision-making, in a context where foresight is becoming critical. "We are pleased to see our discussions with ImaGeau come to fruition, based on our complementary strengths and a shared conviction regarding the need for an integrated approach to water resources. We aim to provide an effective response to the increasingly pressing need for sustainable water resource management, both in France and internationally. "
