From 9 March to 23 March 2026, the 6KM for Water, organised by Saur Solidarities in partnership with World Vision France, brought together more than 1,250 employees worldwide for a common cause: to support access to clean drinking water for more than 700,000 Ghanaians. This walk is organised to mark 22 March, World Water Day.

A challenge in solidarity

Every day, thousands of children, mainly girls, walk 6 km to fetch water. It is an exhausting journey that often prevents them from attending school. Thanks to the efforts of Saur group employees, Saur Solidarities has donated €4,000 to World Vision France to fund a project in Ghana.

Last year, in 2025, some wonderful initiatives were carried out in Zambia.

The village of Matala has seen its daily life transformed by the commissioning of a new pump. A vital source of drinking water in the heart of an arid region, this infrastructure offers more than just a material benefit. It has sparked a new vitality for the 133 residents. Supported and trained in its management, they have set up a local committee (covering contributions and minor maintenance) to ensure the long-term sustainability of their water point themselves.

A new future

Communities are now transforming their daily lives by conserving water resources. Girls can go to school, rural clinics are providing better care, the environment is recovering thanks to new plants nourished by water, and in Chikwa, a small-scale electricity network has been set up.

Saur Solidarities active commitment alongside World Vision France

Saur Solidarities is not a passive donor; by partnering with World Vision France on this programme, the organisation is setting itself apart. World Vision France’s goal is to reach the milestone of 1,000,000 people benefiting from access to water by September 2026. In Zambia, they have already surpassed the 98% mark, whilst in Ghana, work is ongoing and is expected to be completed by 2032.

"Thanks to the new sanitation facilities, community members now feel that healthcare is safer and more reliable... Clean water and good hygiene enable our children to grow up healthy and our families to thrive. "
