Saur, in partnership with the Orient Express Racing team, has deployed an innovative grey water treatment solution to protect water resources during the America's Cup in Barcelona, a region hard hit by drought.

The recently installed grey water treatment unit, now fully operational, produces high quality water to strict standards. The treated water, from rainfall and showers, is efficiently reused for toilet flushing and boat cleaning.

This complete wastewater management and recycling system, including grey and black water, will reduce overall water consumption by 50%, significantly reducing the base's water footprint.

Solution 1 l Grey water management

The aim of this solution is to treat grey water (rainwater and showers) so that it can be reused.

Grey water is treated using cutting-edge technologies developed by the Group.

This treated water is then reused for toilet flushing, boat washing and showers.

Solution 2 l Black water management

This technology focuses on wastewater management (toilets and kitchens), enabling virtually all the dirty water from the French camp to be treated and discharged back into the environment with superior compatible quality.

The Group has installed a mobile wastewater treatment plant, the Bioreactor Wastewater Treatment Unit* (BWTU), which effectively treats the wastewater of 150 people a day, offering a cost-effective, circular solution.
