The Saur Group is fully committed to combat climate change.
September 25th 2023 – The Saur Group, an international leader in the water sector, has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to combat climate change. Today, we are proud to announce that Saur has received validation for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). By 2023, Saur commits to reduce its absolute GHG emissions scope 1 and 2 by 42% from a 2021 base year, following a 1,5°C trajectory aligned with the Paris Agreement. It also commits to reducing its scope 3 indirect emissions by 25% particularly those generated by its value chain.
The Saur Group, as a major player in the water sector, bears witness daily to the direct impact of climate change on this vital resource. With this in mind, Saur has made Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) the cornerstone of its growth model, issuing “Sustainability Linked Bonds” in 2021 for 950 million euros. These sustainability bonds link the cost of financing to the achievement of concrete objectives in terms of environmental and social performance, including carbon intensity reduction. To achieve its ambitious GHG reduction goals by 2030, the Saur Group has implemented a comprehensive decarbonization strategy based on several key pillars:
• Reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency in
processes
• 100% renewable electricity for all its activities by 2023
• Self-produced energy
• Transitioning the vehicle fleet to lower-carbon energy sources
Additionally, Saur is committed to working collaboratively with its stakeholders to create a more sustainable future for all. To this end, the Saur Group has initiated constructive discussions with its most significant suppliers and subcontractors to reduce GHG emissions throughout the Group's value chain. This additional step reflects the deep commitment of Saur's employees to a decarbonized economy. "In the coming months, we will fine-tune these trajectories throughout the entire Group, by Business Unit and by geography. From top management to our industrial plants, our trajectory to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is a collective objective, driven by a clear vision and unwavering leadership," emphasized Bénédicte Peyrol, CSR Director of the Saur Group
